Big Bang Theory)
(Singularity)
(Big Bang)
(Inflation)
(Hubble's Law)

Big Bang Theory
Introduction
The Universe is a vast, infinite expanse containing galaxies, stars, planets, satellites, comets, nebulae, gases, dust particles, radiation, and all matter and energy. The study of the origin of the Universe is a crucial topic in geography and astronomy. Currently, the Big Bang Theory is considered the most accepted and scientific theory of the Universe's origin.
Introduction to the Big Bang Theory
According to the Big Bang Theory, approximately 13.8 billion years ago, all the matter and energy in the Universe was concentrated in a very small, extremely dense, and extremely hot point (Singularity). Suddenly, a very powerful Big Bang occurred at this point. This was not an ordinary explosion, but the beginning of the creation of space and time. This event initiated the expansion of the Universe, which continues to this day.
The main proponents of the Big Bang theory
Georges Lemaître – Introduced the concept of the "Primeval Atom" in 1927.
Edwin Hubble – In 1929, he demonstrated that galaxies are moving away from each other, providing evidence of the expansion of the universe.
George Gamow – Explained the origin of light elements in the early universe.
The Big Bang Process (Sequential Explanation)
1. Singularity
The entire universe was concentrated into an extremely small point.
The temperature and density were infinite.
Time and space did not exist.
2. The Big Bang
About 13.8 billion years ago, a Big Bang occurred.
At this moment, time, space, matter, and energy were born.
3. Rapid Expansion of the Universe (Inflation)
Immediately after the explosion, the universe began expanding at an extremely rapid rate.
This process is called cosmic inflation.
4. Formation of Fundamental Particles
Quarks, electrons, protons, and neutrons formed within moments.
These later combined to form atoms.
5. Formation of Light Elements
Light elements like hydrogen and helium formed within about 3 minutes.
These elements later became the basis for the formation of stars and galaxies.
6. Formation of Atoms
About 3.8 million years later, as the temperature decreased, electrons and nuclei combined to form atoms.
Light began to travel freely.
7. Formation of Galaxies and Stars
Billions of years later, stars and galaxies formed from clouds of gas and dust.
About 4.6 billion years ago, the Sun and Solar System formed.
After this, the Earth and other planets developed.
8. Formation of Planets and Satellites
Key Evidence for the Big Bang Theory
1. Hubble's Law
Edwin Hubble proved that all galaxies are moving away from each other.
This clearly shows that the universe is continuously expanding.
2. Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMB)
It was discovered in 1965.
It is believed to be a remnant of the heat left after the Big Bang.
This is the strongest evidence for the theory.
3. Abundance of Light Elements
The amount of hydrogen and helium in the universe is the same as predicted by this theory.
4. Continuous Expansion of the Universe
Observations from modern telescopes show that the universe is still expanding.
Characteristics of the Big Bang Theory
Currently the most accepted scientific theory.
States the age of the universe to be approximately 13.8 billion years.
Explains the continuous expansion of the universe.
Explains the origin of galaxies, stars, and planets.
Supported by numerous evidence from modern astronomy.
Limitations of the Big Bang Theory
Does not provide a clear answer to what existed before the Big Bang.
The actual cause of the Big Bang is still unknown.
Does not fully explain dark matter and dark energy.
Modern physics has not fully explained the state of the initial "singularity."
Key points for the exam:
Propounder of the theory: Georges Lemaître
Key evidence: Hubble's law, cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB), abundance of light elements
Estimated age of the universe: 13.8 billion years
Age of the solar system: approximately 4.6 billion years
Key feature: The universe is continuously expanding.
Conclusion
The Big Bang theory is the most widely accepted theory of the origin of the universe by modern science. It states that the universe originated from an extremely hot and dense state approximately 13.8 billion years ago and has been continuously expanding ever since. Scientific evidence such as Hubble's law, cosmic microwave background radiation, and the existence of light elements support this theory. Therefore, the Big Bang theory holds special significance in the study of geography and astronomy.
