(Meaning of the Universe)

(Concept of the Universe)

(Galaxy)

(Star)

(Planet)

1. बुध

6. शनि

(Satellite)

(Comets)

---

(Asteroids)

Meaning of the Universe

The Universe is the infinite and vast expanse of space, encompassing all galaxies, stars, planets, satellites, comets, asteroids, nebulae, gas, dust particles, radiation, energy, time, and space.

> "The totality of everything that exists—matter, energy, time, and space—is called the Universe."

According to modern scientists, the age of the Universe is estimated to be approximately 13.8 billion years.

2. Concept of the Universe

The concept of the Universe states that all celestial bodies throughout space are connected to each other by gravity and other natural laws. It is a constantly changing and expanding Universe.

 Key Features of the Universe

1. The universe is extremely vast and nearly infinite.

2. It contains billions of galaxies.

3. Each galaxy contains millions to billions of stars.

4. The Sun is also a normal star.

5. The Earth is a planet orbiting the Sun.

6. The universe is constantly expanding.

7. Its structure is made up of matter and energy.

3. Key Components of the Universe

(a) Galaxy

A galaxy is a huge cluster of stars, gas, and dust.

Our galaxy is called the Milky Way Galaxy.

It contains approximately 100–400 billion stars.

The Sun is a member of this galaxy.

(b) Star

A star is a celestial body that produces its own light and heat.

 Example: Sun

Characteristics

Extreme temperature

Made of gases (mainly hydrogen and helium)

Produce energy through nuclear fusion.

(c) Planets

Planets are celestial bodies that do not produce their own light, but reflect the light of their star.

Eight Planets in the Solar System

1. Mercury

2. Venus

3. Earth

4. Mars

5. Jupiter

6. Saturn

7. Uranus

8. Neptune

(d) Satellites

Objects that orbit planets are called satellites.

Example: The Moon is Earth's natural satellite.

(e) Comets

Celestial bodies made of dust, gas, and ice that develop luminous tails when they approach the Sun.

(f) Asteroids

These are small rocky bodies found primarily in the Asteroid Belt, located between Mars and Jupiter.

(g) Meteors and Meteorites

Meteor: An object that enters Earth's atmosphere and burns.

Meteorite: An object that reaches Earth's surface.

4. Origin of the Universe

According to modern science, the universe originated from the Big Bang Theory.

Big Bang Theory

About 13.8 billion years ago, a Big Bang occurred from a very dense and extremely hot state.

After the explosion, matter and energy began to expand.

Over time, galaxies, stars, planets, and other celestial bodies were formed.

Even today, the universe is continuously expanding.

5. Difference between the Universe and the Solar System

Universe: Solar System

The entire universe is the Sun and its family of planets.

It includes all galaxies. It is the system of only one star (the Sun).

A very small part of the vast universe.
